The restoration, strengthening, conservation, and landscaping work on the historical mosque, which was severely damaged in the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, is ongoing, taking into account both the safety of its structural system and its original architectural character.
The Helete-Düzbağı Central Mosque suffered significant damage to its structural system and minaret during the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş. The current state of the building has been documented in official damage assessment reports; the scope of repair and strengthening has been determined in accordance with the decisions of a scientific committee.
In accordance with the structural system requirements of the building, well foundation excavation was carried out; telescopic placement and reinforcement steel installations for foundation strengthening were implemented according to the approved project decisions.


The rubble wall remnants in the mosque garden were excavated and cleared in a controlled manner, and the ground was prepared for drainage and filling works as part of the landscaping efforts.
The roof covering, damaged in the earthquake, was carefully dismantled, and the removed wooden elements were stacked and used for landscaping. A temporary roof was constructed to protect the structure from the weather.
The finishing plastering of the load-bearing walls of the structure has been completed, the steel beam reinforcement system has been installed, and work continues under the temporary roof covering. The current photographs below reflect the latest state of the construction site.

In the structure, where the structural integrity of the building is ensured through well foundation and steel beam reinforcement, the fine plastering and temporary roof constructions have been completed. The work is being carried out in accordance with the approved restoration project and the decisions of the scientific committee, with the goal of completion in 2028.
